Parking is at the Top of the Agenda

The people have spoken: Kyle Heffner and Tierra Hansen have been elected the 2008-2009 Student Senate President and Vice President, respectively.
Heffner edged out Susan Meyers, Josie Johnson and write-in candidate Seth Stemmer for president, while Hansen overcame Tricia Rinella and Andy Schultz for the vice presidency.
Heffner said that his dedication gave him an edge over the other candidates
“People saw more dedication in me than the other candi

dates,” said Heffner. “Everyone had a lot of passion, but I pulled more experience into my campaign.”
Parking is at the top of Heffner’s agenda, he said.
“I’ve already set the wheels in motion for getting onto the parking committee. I’ve asked the Parking Committee Chair [Bob Hoffman] to let me be present at meetings.”
Heffner outlined a strategy that he thinks will make parking easier and more accessible for commuter students, faculty and staff. In his strategy, freshmen living on campus would be required to park

This year, Senate passed

a new rule regarding campaigns. According to the constitution, “candidates may not be endorsed by current Senate executives, Senators or the current Student Trustee using their position title or name. Endorsements consist of publicly broadcasted media, electronic media, or printed propaganda stating endorsement from any of the aforementioned representatives.”
Senate decided that Facebook was too difficult to regulate, so it was fair game.
“Josie and I created a Facebook group for our campaign,” said Andy Schultz, candidate for Vice President. “Somehow, it’s become one of the most efficient ways to reach out and organize
