“Doing it for the Money” Does it for All the Money

Student Alumni Association sponsors Student Talent Show

By Dana Hogan
Staff Writer

The auditorium might have been small, but the talent was huge Saturday night. Were there American Idol auditions at CSS? Nope, the Student Alumni Association sponsored the 15th Annual Student Talent Show in the Mitchell on Oct. 13. Seven acts sang and danced their way into the judges hearts, and emcees, Chad Schrandt and Alissa Kaake, kept the audience entertained between acts.

Dr. Gerry Cizadlo, Mary Gummerson, Sr. Timothy Kirby and Ryan Vine took time out of their schedules to judge the talent show. The acts were judged on

four critera: originality, audience appeal, quality of performance and overall performance.

The show started with freshman Tim Miller rocking the electric guitar, even with a slight shoulder injury. He played and sang a song he wrote, called “Be With Me.”
Next up, junior Sarah Hengel played the piano and sang a song she wrote, called “Time is Moving Slow.” That song is featured on a demo that she recorded in Minneapolis.

The first group performance was “Doing It For the Money,” which included seniors Amber Goodspeed, Will Ruckel, Jennifer Weinzettel and junior Nem Svitlica. They sang

a few acapella songs, ending their set with a very creative

In his lecture, Graham addressed the age-old question: who goes to heaven. He set out to establish facts, debunk myths and reveal the Catholic Church’s position on other religions. He also clarified comments

By Aaron T. Rose

"Drinking is very visible,” said Assistant Dean of Students for Campus Life Betsy Kneepkens. “There’s cans, bottles, noise, whatever. But there is no visibility in choosing not to drink. The ‘Why Not Drink?’ campaign gives a voice to students who choose to obstain from alcohol.”
